This one-day Basic of Critical Care ECHO course introduces clinicians to focused transthoracic echocardiography in acute and critical care settings.
Participants learn how to acquire the core TTE windows, assess basic cardiac structure and function, recognize clinically important findings, and integrate focused ECHO into bedside decision-making for critically ill patients.
The course combines focused teaching, case-based discussions, and supervised hands-on scanning to help clinicians build confidence in performing practical cardiac ultrasound at the bedside.

1. Introduction to Transthoracic Echocardiography
Basic principles of focused TTE, probe selection, image orientation, patient positioning, and ultrasound safety.
2. Core TTE Windows
Parasternal long-axis, parasternal short-axis, apical four-chamber, subcostal, and IVC views.
3. Structural Cardiac Assessment
Focused assessment of LV function, RV size and function, chamber size, volume status, and gross structural abnormalities.
4. Pericardial Effusion & Tamponade
Recognition of pericardial effusion, tamponade physiology, and clinical correlation in critically ill patients.
5. Pulmonary Embolism Indicators
Basic ECHO findings suggestive of RV strain and acute pressure overload.
6. Volume & Fluid Status Assessment
IVC assessment, preload estimation, and integration with clinical findings.
7. Critical Care ECHO Protocols
Practical focused ECHO approaches used in shock, cardiac arrest, respiratory failure, and acute deterioration.
8. Case-Based Scenarios
